World Water Day is a United Nations International Day and is celebrated annually on the 22nd of March.
It is a means of focusing attention on the importance of fresh water and advocting for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
Each year World Water Day focuses on a specific aspect of freshwater. The theme for 2012 is "Water and Food Security."
